Oxfordshire 2017

Date:
5 - 6 April 2017
Location: The King’s Centre

We are excited to be working with a new partnership in Oxfordshire to run an event in April 2017 for schools across the county.

At the event 400 students, from approximately 20 secondary schools and colleges, will have the opportunity to work alongside over 25 businesses in a series of creative workshops. Together they will investigate and discuss the changing face of industry and develop their own ideas and solutions to support a low carbon future.

Details for schools

We are pleased to be able to offer this event to schools free of charge as we have worked hard to secure funding. The event is currently open to all schools in Oxfordshire and neighbouring counties.

Your school can attend on one of the event days, from around 9.00am to 3.30pm.  You can bring a maximum of 35 students, from Years 7 – 13.

Overall, the event will provide both students and teachers with a clear, broad and up to date view of the current job market and education and training options. Additionally, the event:

  • Develops students vocational skills
  • Links to the National Curriculum and a wide range of college courses
  • Provides ideas and inspiration surrounding sustainability for your school
  • Offers networking opportunities with businesses and other teachers
  • Is CPD accredited, and provides activity ideas and resources to take back to the classroom.

Sign up using our online form (via the link on the left). If you have any questions about the event please contact Zoe Newbery on zoen@severnwye.org.uk.

Please note we are now fully booked on the 5th April.

Calling all businesses!

We are looking for a wide range of local organisations to support the running of this event.

Your organisation can support one of the interactive workshops. This involves one member of staff coming along on one or both event days, depending on how much time you can give. The staff member will work with a team of students and support them undertake an interactive challenge (outlined on the workshop page).  Prior to the event we will provide you with a detailed briefing about your role - there is very little preparation required!

Your organisation can also exhibit (at no charge). For a more lasting impact your business can sponsor the event.

Details of business support can be found on our Business Participation page.
