West of England 2014

Date:
1 - 2 April 2014
Location: University of the West of England

Hundreds of secondary school students from across Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, and South Gloucestershire attended the Your Green Future event at the University of the West of England on the 1 and 2 April.

The school students explored with businesses and university students the growing job opportunities in a low carbon, sustainable future.

Students took part in various workshops, such as working alongside local businesses including Pukka and the Community Farm to develop sustainable food products; negotiating a Climate Action Plan for South Gloucestershire; and sitting on a ‘Dragons’ Den’ style panel to decide whether to ‘invest’ in cutting edge innovations presented to them by business representatives, including from ULTra Global (driverless cars!) and Jaguar Land Rover.

Thanks go to the University of the West of England for hosting the event and to the local Rotary Clubs that were on hand to make sure everything went smoothly!
